We acknowledge that eradicating racism is not accomplished with a one-time post on Instagram, or a one-time donation to Black Lives Matter.

It’s an ongoing commitment.

We believe it’s better to “be humble and ready to fumble” and risk doing it “imperfectly,” rather than remain silent and do nothing at all. This is our imperfect step toward racial and social equity. We are not perfect but we’re always improving. We continually seek new ways to do more and do better.

The Stuart Collective is fiercely committed to being an inclusive and anti-racist business.

We believe that:

Black Lives Matter. Women’s rights are human rights. No person is illegal. Diversity makes us stronger. Love is love. We rise by lifting others.

Here’s our pledge:

First crafted date: October 30, 2020. Updated date: March 27, 2023.

  • We have hired a leading expert on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racist training, and have continued to pursue additional education at least 2 times per year beginning in Q4 2020.

  • We commit to creating inclusive and safe online spaces for our clients and members by providing community guidelines and training community managers in cultural competency. While our online spaces will encourage discussion and conflict when needed, hate speech or bullying of any form will not be tolerated.

  • We commit to creating an online resource library on diversity, equity, anti-racist training, activism, and how to use your voice to change the world. These materials are available for free for our team, clients, and entire online community.

  • When providing resources for personal and professional growth to our clients (articles, books, music, products, consultant recommendations, etc.), we will decolonize these resources by recommending Black- and minority-owned, led or written resources at least 30% of the time.

  • When developing training opportunities such as conferences or webinars, we will use our platform to feature speakers who identify as Black, Indigenous and People of Color at least 30% of the time.

  • When purchasing gifts for staff and clients we will purchase from Black- and minority-owned companies at least 30% of the time.

  • When hiring, we will make a strong effort to recruit BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) talent to join the team. By the end of 2025, we aim to be a company where at least 50% of our team is not white.

  • To share our values publicly, we will include a version of this statement on our website, job postings, and client contracts. We will share personal pronouns as often as is appropriate, such as in email signatures, bios, and video call platforms.

  • When race-motivated violence occurs in the news, we will offer our BIPOC team members the option to take the day off, and speak with a grief counselor at no cost. We understand that violence is painful to everyone, but some carry the burden of the pain more heavily than others.

  • Accountability is important. We will post public reports here to show how we’re doing in terms of upholding our pledge, and areas where we still need to improve.

  • We welcome suggestions on how we can do better. Reach out here.
